OFWs in CAMBODIA AVAIL OF

DOLE/POEA FRONTLINE AND EMBASSY CONSULAR SERVICES

Over 300 Filipinos availed of frontline government services at the OEC Mission and Weekend Consular Services held at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia on 20-21 October 2018.

The one-stop shop event organized by the Embassy, in cooperation with the DOLE-POEA, OWWA and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Singapore,

extended services ranging from processing Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) and OWWA membership renewals for OFWs in Cambodia who have changed employers, jobsites or employed through the name-hire system. The Philippine Embassy likewise rendered consular services during the two-day weekend event.

"This is the Embassy's second one-stop shop offering of frontline services in 2018, saving our OFWs many hours of queueing up at offices in the Philippines to process their OECs, also known as Balik-Manggagawa (BM) certificates, as well as their OWWA memberships, thus giving them more time to be with their loved ones during home vacations," Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Christopher B. Montero noted.

By being registered in the BM Online system, and the OWWA database, OFWs who availed of the frontline services will be able to avoid lining up in long queues and just apply for renewal online, unless they change their jobsite or switch to a different employer.

The Filipino community in Cambodia were also briefed on the new OWWA OFW e-card, which was launched recently to provide OFWs with a faster and more convenient means to avail of OWWA’s programs and services.

OFWs who availed of services at the one-stop shop were grateful for the opportunity to be spared from the heavy traffic and long queues associated with document processing during year-end holidays in the Philippines.

OFW Jonnell Llanto, who works as Director of Operations of Cambodian MJ Airline, commended the conduct of the event noting that “programs such as this consular mission/services, not only resulted in customer satisfaction for the OFW community in Cambodia, but your team even exceeded all expectations." "May your success serve as a role model to all other embassy-consular services in other Philippine Embassies throughout the world,” he concluded . END
