FILIPINOS HAIL OFW ONE-STOP SHOP AT THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN CAMBODIA
Phnom Penh—Almost 600 OFWs were provided vital frontline services at the 8th Multi-agency Service Mission, a one-stop shop of vital government services for OFWs, organized by the Philippine Embassy on 07-08 April 2018.
Various government agencies delivered frontline services to the Filipino Community in Cambodia, namely the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Singapore, issued Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) as well as Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) Membership sign-ups and renewal,; PhilHealth received benefit claims and performed membership enrolment, verification and ID issuance, while the Social Security System (SSS) did membership enrolment, verification, loan restructuring, and the amendment of beneficiaries. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), participating for the first time, issued NBI clearances.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), also participating for the first time, provided one-on-one consultation on issues and errors in civil registry records.
OFWs who availed of services applauded the Embassy’s efforts to bring frontline government services to Filipinos, even beyond Philippine borders. "Nagpapasalamat kami sa gobyerno na pinupuntahan kami dito para nakaka-avail pa rin kami sa mga programa para sa mga OFW. Hindi na rin kami magsasayang ng bakasyon para sa pagpila sa Pilipinas pag-uwi namin kasi dito sama-sama na sa isang opisina lahat ng agency na kailangan puntahan." said one Filipino working as a graphic artist in Phnom Penh.
