PH EMBASSY IN PHNOM PENH JOINED THE ASEAN PLUS THREE FESTIVAL 2018
The Philippine Embassy participated with other ASEAN embassies, and the embassies of China, Republic of Korea, and Japan in the ASEAN Plus Three Festival 2018 organized by the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) on 1 April 2018 at the RUPP grounds.
The Festival showcased the thirteen (13) countries' rich heritage through cultural performances, traditional games, traditional instruments, fun quiz, documentaries, food, and products.
The country exhibition booth of the Philippine Embassy showcased Philippine handicrafts, fabrics, pearl accessories, as well as Philippine products available in Cambodia, such as Liwayway (Rinbee) snack foods and Unilab Pharma’s PH Care, Decolgen, and Alaxan. As in previous cultural festivals participated in by the Embassy, its sorbetero cart became a point of interest and curiosity among the festival-goers.
Filipino restaurants and caterers joined the event and sold Filipinos dishes and delicacies such as chicken inasal, chicharon, ube halaya, puto, kuchinta, biko, bilo bilo, and leche flan.
During the ASEAN+3 cultural performances, Phnom Penh-based Filipino teachers Myra Bangad, Shalimar Collado, and Chris Obra played a medley of Filipino folk songs on banduria and ukulele. Ms. Bangad and Ms. Collado also sang the folk song “Lulay” while six (6) RUPP students danced.
The ASEAN Plus Three Festival was a fun-filled and educational treat to participants and visitors alike. END
