PHNOM PENH -- The Philippine Embassy in Cambodia recently awarded a free Phnom Penh-Manila-Phnom Penh round-trip ticket to Ms. Zhang Bobbee, winner of the photo competition for the 1st Tuktuk/Remork Philippine Tourism Campaign organized by the Embassy last year, in partnership with the Philippine Department of Tourism.
Ms. Zhang bested other non-Filipino participants in the photo competition, aptly titled "Selfie My Way to the Philippines" which involved taking selfie photos beside the mini-billboards bearing "It's More Fun in the Philippines" banners mounted at the back of around 40 tuktuks along city streets of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
Ms. Zhang hails from Laos but is a long-time resident of Cambodia. Her Filipino friends in Phnom Penh encouraged her to join the photo competition and even helped her take the winning photo, which garnered 4,600 likes on Facebook. She looks forward to visiting the Philippines' beautiful beaches and taking more photos that she can share on social media.
The international round trip ticket was provided by Cebu Pacific Air, the airline that operates the direct flight between Siem Reap and the Philippines, while the Phnom Penh to Siem Reap roundtrip air ticket was sponsored by Bassaka Airline, which flies daily between the two major tourist hubs of Cambodia.
The Philippine Embassy officially launched the tuk-tuk tourism promotion project on 14 September 2017 as part of the its activities in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Cambodia. END
