PHNOM PENH -- In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Philippines-Cambodia diplomatic relations last month, the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia launched two (2) Filipino children's books that were translated to the Khmer (Cambodian) language.
"The two books entitled "NAKU, NAKUU, NAKUUU" (written by Nanoy Rafael and illustrated by Sergio Bumatay III) and "SI PAGONG AT SI MATSING" (re-written by Virgilio S. Almario and re-illustrated by Hubert Fucio) are a gift from Filipino children to Cambodian children, and symbolizes the desire of both countries to strengthen their bonds for future generations of Filipinos and Cambodians," Ambassador Christopher B. Montero said at the launching ceremony.
The book project is the product of an ongoing cooperation between the Philippine Embassy and Room to Read (RtR) Cambodia, particularly in support of the latter's literacy program. RtR will distribute 1,000 copies of the two Filipino children's books to various public schools across Cambodia. END
