Approximately 400 members of the Filipino community in Cambodia availed of frontline government services at the 7th edition of the Multi-Agency Service Mission (MASM) organized by the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh from 01 to 02 April 2017.
Designed as a platform to serve the needs of the growing number of OFWs in Cambodia, the twice-a-year MASM brought together various frontline government agencies. Representatives from DOLE, through Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Singapore, processed applications for Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC), OWWA membership sign-ups and renewal, as well as registration in the Balik-Manggagawa Online system.
Officials from the Social Security System, PhilHealth, and the Development Bank of the Philippines likewise provided services to existing and new members, including new service packages that benefit OFWs. Representatives from the Bureau of Immigration and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) were also on hand and shared important information on departure formalities for Filipinos travelling overseas and on programs for overseas Filipinos such as franchising and setting up small and medium enterprises.
OFWs who attended the MASM expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s initiative. "Ang ganda talaga ng ganitong event. Hindi ko na kinakailangan pang pumunta sa POEA sa pag uwi ko sa 'Pinas sa Khmer New Year ngayong buwan ng Abril. Minsan ma-traffic pa. Kaya sobra talagang appreciate ko ang activity na ito," said one Filipino working as a high school teacher in Phnom Penh. END
