Almost 300 Filipinos in Cambodia availed themselves of free medical and dental services during a medical mission organized by the Samahan ng mga Pilipino sa Cambodia (SAMAPI), in partnership of the Philippine Embassy. The one-day event was held on 11 September 2016 at the new Philippine Chancery in Phnom Penh.

Several Filipino medical practitioners in Cambodia shared their time, expertise and resources to serve their fellow Filipinos. SAMAPI has likewise tapped the support of various hospitals and clinics to provide other health-related services.

The Filipinos who came to the event expressed appreciation to SAMAPI and the Embassy for the noteworthy community undertaking.

Philippine Ambassador Christopher B. Montero commended SAMAPI, led by its president, Mr. Jimmy Victoria, in keeping the spirit of bayanihan through this activity. He encouraged SAMAPI to continue its partnership with the Embassy in the conduct of similar activities that would benefit the Filipinos in Cambodia.

"Ito ang tunay na diwa  ng pagiging Pilipino – nagtutulungan, nakikiramay, nagkaka-samasama," Ambassador Montero noted.  END
