Filipino and Cambodian film-goers were treated to cinematic gems from the Philippines at the Cinema Sentro Festival organized by the Sentro Rizal of Phnom Penh (SRPP) from 18 to 19 June 2016.
Held as part of the commemorative activities of the Philippine Embassy for the 118th anniversary of Philippine Independence, over 700 people watched the showing of three (3) movies of various genres at the Major Cineplex in Aeon Mall in downtown Phnom Penh and at the newly-opened Chancery of the Embassy.
The film festival featured the historical epic “Heneral Luna,” the romantic comedy “That Thing Called Tadhana,” and the culturally enlightening drama “K’na, the Dreamweaver.” Mr. JP Habac, Casting Director and Assistant Director of “Heneral Luna, graced the festival and answered questions from the audience about the top-grossing film.
This is the second year in a row that the Philippine Embassy has organized a film festival in Phnom Penh. Filipino film enthusiasts expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s efforts to bring quality Philippine movies to Cambodia, showcasing the richness of Filipino culture and talent.
Cinema Sentro Festival was organized in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Artikulo Uno Productions, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
