The Philippine Embassy in Cambodia showcased Filipino food culture at the ASEAN Cuisine Festival 2016 held on 01-02 April 2016  at the Olympic Stadium, in Phnom Penh.

Organized by Pour Sourire d’Enfant (PSE), a French non-government organization, in cooperation with Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), Ministry of Tourism (MoT) and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), the two-day charity event was attended by an estimated 12,000 people.

The Philippine Embassy booth featured a wide variety of Filipino food (pork tocino, pork adobo binalot, sisig, adobong mani) drinks and desserts (buko pandan, ice candy, home-made ice cream, samalamig), and baked goods such as pandesal, pandecoco, mongo bun, ensaymada, and chicken bread roll) prepared by Filipino caterers and bakers in Phnom Penh. Liwayway Manufacturing (Cambodia), a Filipino company in Cambodia, also sold its newly-released snack food and drinks in the Philippine country booth.

Because of the summer heat, Filipino cold drinks and dessert such as buko pandan, ice candy, home-made ice cream, samalamig were popular among the festival-goers, many of whom have not tried Filipino food before.

Sinaglahi Filipinas, a dance troupe organized by the Embassy among members of the Filipino Community, amazed the crowd with their colorful costumes and performance of the traditional dances Pangalay and Lapay-Bantigue, during the Opening Ceremony of the Festival.
