11 June 2025, Phnom Penh – Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo, together with Philippine Embassy personnel, joined on 8 June 2025 the festive commemoration of the anniversary of Philippine  independence in Phnom Penh organized by the Samahan ng mga Pilipino sa Cambodia (SAMAPI).

As guest speaker, Ambassador Mayo urged Filipinos in Cambodia to call to mind the lessons of the Philippine revolution insofar as they relate to good Filipino citizenship. She extolled SAMAPI and members of the Filipino community who contribute to the greater good of the nation. “We commend Filipinos in Cambodia for continuing to win hearts, to make the right choices, and to be a force for good. Your Philippine Embassy stands proud to serve you -- kayong lahat na nagmamahal sa ating Inang Bayan at sa sambayang Pilipino,” she stated.

Every 12 June, Filipino communities all over the world gather to celebrate the declaration of Philippine independence. For the 127th anniversary of the Philippine Republic, other celebratory events will take place in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap featuring the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra and duo soprano known as The Nightingales.
