21 May 2025 – Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo visited on 16 May 2025 Filipino workers at the Xo-Tex garment factory in Phnom Penh in line with the Embassy’s consular outreach.
 
The Ambassador was warmly welcomed by Filipino supervisors overseeing the factory's development, production, and quality control units. All told, factory owner Luen Thai Holdings employ around a hundred Filipino staff in various manufacturing sites in Cambodia.
 
The Philippine Ambassador availed herself of the opportunity to also discuss foreign trade issues with Luen Thai Holdings, Ltd. CEO Raymond Tan relative to said company’s factories in the Philippines and the wider region.
 
“I am grateful for the opportunity to visit a garment factory in Cambodia where Filipinos are valued for their skills and work ethic,” the Ambassador said during an interface with Xo-Tex’s Filipino workers. She encouraged them to participate in community activities, including Embassy-led events for the celebration of Philippine Independence Day celebration this coming June.
 
Around 50 percent of Filipinos in Cambodia are employed in the garment and footwear manufacturing sector. They are known to hold supervisory positions overseeing quality control, pattern making, and product development.
 
Hong Kong-based Luen Thai Holdings, Ltd. owns and operates several factories in Cambodia including Xo-Tex and D’Luxe, which produce garments for international sports brands and bags mainly for export to the U.S., Europe, and Japan.
 
According to trade data from Cambodia’s General Department of Customs and Excise, garments, footware, and travel goods account for 52 percent of the country’s total export earnings. END
