Phnom Penh, 27 January 2025 – A 35-member delegation led by the Women’s Business Council (WomenBiz) Philippines took stock today of the Philippine Business Mission to Cambodia conducted in Phnom Penh on 22-23 January 2025.
Initiated by the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia, the pioneering business mission brought the Philippine delegation face to face with the Kingdom’s highest government officials in dialogues with Prime Minister Hun Manet, National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul and Minister of Women’s Affairs Ing Kantha Pavi.
During the delegation’s courtesy call at the Peace Palace, Prime Minister Hun Manet called for stronger bilateral economic cooperation and underlined the potential benefits of harnessing multi-sector complementarities and connectivity for shared prosperity. Recognizing the vast trade potential between the Philippines and Cambodia, Ms. Rosemarie P. Rafael, Chair of WomenBiz Philippines conveyed the delegation’s keen interest in doing business with Cambodian partners and assured the Prime Minister of WomenBiz’ readiness to collaborate with Cambodian women entrepreneurs in upskilling and capacity building activities for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) especially in the run-up to the Philippines’ ASEAN chairmanship in 2026.
The Philippine delegation comprised women entrepreneurs who have made their mark in the fields of education, healthcare, hospitality, wellness, robotics, artificial intelligence, logistics, and transportation. “Our delegation is well-positioned to explore and introduce high-impact investments that align with Cambodia’s national development agenda. Our mission is more than just a business exchange – we are driven to take a pivotal step toward shaping a future of shared prosperity, inclusivity and resilience for both the Philippines and Cambodia,” Ms. Rafael explained.
The delegation’s engagements in the capital city also included site visits and exploratory business-to-business (B2B) talks with Cambodia’s biggest conglomerates such as the Royal Group, Chip Mong Group, the OCIC Group and Worldbridge Group. END
