PHNOM PENH, 19 December 2024 - The Philippine Embassy, in cooperation with the St. Jude Thaddeus International School in Phnom Penh, hosted a Christmas mass officiated by Rev. Fr. John Ceferino Ledesma for the Filipino community in Cambodia on 16 December 2024.
Held at the school premises, lively Christmas carols by the students of St. Jude and a salo-salo followed the Catholic mass with some 300 community members present.
Ambassador Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo took the occasion to deliver her Christmas message. “The Embassy gladly supports the preservation of Filipino cultural identity by keeping alive our beloved Christmas traditions. We are proud to work with the Filipino community in Phnom Penh to share the blessings of Christmas with our compatriots in Cambodia and spread goodwill in our host country,” the Ambassador said.
Mass goers enjoyed the Embassy’s a la Simbang Gabi comfort food such as arroz caldo, pan de sal, assorted colorful puto, and champorado.
The Simbang Gabi is a custom observed by many Filipino families in thanksgiving and spiritual preparation for Christmas. END
