Phnom Penh, 13 November 2024 – The Philippine Embassy, in tandem with the Migrant Workers’ Office (MWO)-Singapore and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)-Singapore, embarked on an outreach mission to Sihanoukville on 9-11 November 2024 to deliver citizen services to Filipinos in Preah Sihanouk Province in Cambodia.
During the multi-agency mission, the Embassy, MWO, and OWWA-Singapore enlightened Filipino workers on policies and regulations concerning overseas employment. At the same time, Filipino community members availed themselves of same-day processing of Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) and OWWA membership which entitled them to a wide range of benefits as Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
In line with the Embassy’s mandate to protect the rights of OFWs, the team conducted a job site visit at the offices of a potential employer of Filipino workers in Sihanoukville. A compassionate visit to a terminally ill Filipino citizen was another highlight of the mission.
Each year, the Philippine Embassy visits Filipinos in Sihanoukville to render essential consular services including passport renewal, notarization, and Embassy registration. END
