Phnom Penh, 25 September 2024 - Philippine Ambassador Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo was received in a courtesy call today by Cambodia’s Trade Policy Advisory Board (TPAB) Chairman and Senior Minister, His Excellency Dr. Sok Siphana at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
During their meeting, Ambassador Mayo sought Dr. Sok’s views on how PH and Cambodia can proactively determine their complementarities and pursue a shared economic agenda, in traditional and new areas of cooperation.
Dr. Sok acknowledged that the Filipino working population is rife with technical expertise that could help Cambodia’s capacity building on the road to country’s exit from the Least Developed Country (LDC) list by 2029.
Ambassador Mayo affirmed PH’s readiness to help Cambodia diversify its import sources with a view to strengthening bilateral trade flows and contributing to the improvement of overall intra-ASEAN trade. She sought support for a business mission being organized by some Filipino entrepreneurs with an eye on Cambodia’s health, education, retail, franchising, and food and beverage sectors.
The TPAB heads a 15-member council which advises the Royal Government of Cambodia on trade strategies that will promote the country’s competitiveness and deepen its integration into the world economy. END
