Phnom Penh – Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo paid on a courtesy call on Police General Sar Thet, Commissioner General of the Cambodian National Police (CNP) at the latter’s headquarters on 12 September 2024 to reaffirm the Philippines’ resolve in addressing transnational crimes, including cybercrimes and trafficking in persons.

While noting the contributions of Filipino professionals and Philippine businesses to Cambodia’s economic development, Ambassador Mayo thanked the CNP for its continuing assistance in the rescue of Filipinos trapped in online scamming operations.  Commissioner General Sar Thet extended assurances of the CNP’s commitment to maintaining peace and order as well as taking care of foreign guests in Cambodia. 

Both sides acknowledged the importance of closer cooperation and the sharing of information between law enforcement authorities under the existing Memorandum of Understanding on Combating Transnational Crime which the Philippines and Cambodia signed in 2016.  END
