Phnom Penh, 06 September 2024 – Philippine Ambassador Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on 5 September 2024 in Phnom Penh.

Ambassador Mayo shared positive developments in Philippines-Cambodia trade and investment relations, following the 4th Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) held in Manila on 27 August 2024.  In particular, she cited trade and investment areas of interest to certain Philippine enterprises and obtained the Ministry’s support for co-organizing business-to-business engagements in health and wellness, education, and franchising, among other fields.

Recognizing the vast potentials of Philippine-Cambodia trade, the Philippine Ambassador encouraged the Ministry to help promote Philippine export products including precious metals, electronic equipment, food products, bicycle parts, synthetic textile fabrics and machinery.   Minister Cham welcomed the information, citing Cambodia’s thrust to diversify some its import sources.

Ambassador Mayo and Minister Cham also discussed other areas of economic cooperation such as agriculture and electric vehicles.

“We take this opportunity to thank again Her Excellency, Minister Cham Nimul, for lending her distinguished presence as Guest of Honor at the Embassy’s celebration of the 126th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and 67th Anniversary of Philippines-Cambodia Diplomatic Relations on 19 July 2024.  The Philippine Embassy looks forward to working closely with Her Excellency to broaden Philippines-Cambodia economic ties in support of our countries’ aspirations to attain upper middle-income status in the coming years,” Ambassador Mayo said.
