Phnom Penh, 7 August 2024- The Philippine Embassy received, in a courtesy call at the Chancery on 1 August 2024, the representatives of the Women's Business Council Philippines (WomenBizPH) led by Ms. Rosemarie Rafael and the Philippine Women's Economic Network (PhiiWEN) headed by Ma. Aurora D. Geotina-Garcia.
The Filipino business leaders travelled to Cambodia for the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN) Forum and Gala Awards Night in Phnom Penh on the same day.
In her welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo appreciated the work of Filipino women entrepreneurs in promoting women's economic empowerment and inspiring women in the region. Ambassador Mayo extended the Embassy's congratulations to the recipients of the 2024 AWEN Awards, namely, Imelda Ceniza Tiongson (Opal Portfolio Investments Inc.), Kim Frances Yao Lato (Kimstore Enterprise Corp.), Loyta Gupit Orense, M.D. (Vireo Loadworks, Inc.), Melesa D. Chua (CDC Holdings), Enunina V. Manglo (Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Alpha Gracias Allanigui (United Neon Advertising), Krizzia Ann Loyang Tanabe (Franchise Business Services Corp.), Maria Alegria S. Limjoco (Phoenix Publishing House), Bernadette Delos Santos Magdaluyo (BidiBidi Enterprises), Olivia Limpe-Aw (Destilleria Limtuaco & Co. Inc.), Michelle Ann D. Sabando (Tinker House Inc.), Beatrice Valdes (Valdes Designs), and Kristine Sarah Claudio (South Gastro Group, Inc.).
The Philippine Ambassador also shared the Embassy's economic diplomacy thrusts as well as Gender and Development advocacy. "We promote women's empowerment and protect women's rights through mainstreaming gender in our diplomatic work and incorporating gender sensitivity in our consular functions," she said. END
