Phnom Penh, 14 August 2024 – The Philippine Chamber of Commerce (PhilCham) warmly welcomed to Cambodia Her Excellency, Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo, at the “Mabuhay Night: Meet the Ambassador” on 9 August 2024 at the Oakwood Phnom Penh Hotel.

In her remarks for the occasion, Ambassador Mayo lauded the continuing efforts of PhilCham to reinforce connections among its members and the business community in Cambodia.  She took the occasion to present updates on the Philippine business environment and the country’s positive economic outlook.  Ambassador Mayo cited conditions favoring foreign investments in the Philippines such as its solid macroeconomic foundation, large consumer market, young population, abundant natural resources, robust infrastructure spending, and game-changing economic reforms.

The Philippine Ambassador mentioned Embassy and government initiatives to enhance Philippine trade and investment relations with Cambodia, particularly in the areas of retail, education, food and beverage and health care, while extending assurances of the Embassy’s support for Philippine enterprises in the Kingdom.    Referenced during her speech were Philippine companies doing business in Cambodia including United Pharma, Liwayway Cambodia, Philippine Airlines, Yellow Cab, Potato Corner, San Miguel, and Century Pacific.  “Philippine and Cambodian economic interests converge on the common aspiration to prosper our people and obtain for them a sustainable and equitable future. Please be assured that we remain ready to support initiatives that create lasting value for our peoples,” she said.

Rounding out the Philippine networking event were a cultural performance by the Cordillerans in Cambodia, saxophone pieces by Sam Tago and songs rendered the Filipino members of the Phnom Penh Chorale Ensemble.

Initially organized in 2016 as a business network, PhilCham was officially launched in 2021 to promote Philippine-Cambodia commercial relations and serve as a key resource for information sharing and business networking. END
