01 August 2024, Phnom Penh – In pursuit of its mandate to promote the welfare of overseas Filipinos, the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh offered its full range of citizen services during an outreach mission in Siem Reap, Cambodia on 27-28 July 2024.

Among the public services delivered to the Filipino community in Siem Reap and the nearby province of Banteay Meanchey were Embassy identification card issuance, passport renewal, legalization of documents, consular consultations and overseas voting registration.

The Embassy took the opportunity to hold a Filipino community meet-and-greet with Philippine Ambassador Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo who was on her first official visit in the province.  During the dialogue, Ambassador Mayo and members of the Filipino community assessed the Embassy’s consular services and discussed the concerns of Filipinos working in Siem Reap.  She also briefed them on planned activities and programs for the Filipino community.  “We constantly endeavor to strengthen our citizen services and community engagement.  Your feedback allows the Embassy to serve you better,” Ambassador Mayo assured the Filipino community.

While in Siem Reap, the Philippine Ambassador also paid a courtesy call on provincial Governor Prak Sophoan and Major General Huot Sothy, Chief of the Provincial Police Commissariat, to discuss economic cooperation and the welfare of Filipino nationals in their jurisdiction.

Siem Reap, located six-hours by land from the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, is home to the Angkor Wat, one of Southeast Asia's most important archaeological sites. The province hosts around 200 Filipinos working mostly as teachers and missionaries. END
