Phnom Penh, 7 August 2023 – Ambassador Maria Ameltia C. Aquino joined the Prime Phnom Penh Cambodia Eagles Club (PPPCEC) led by its President, Mr. Eric Legarta and the Prime Phnom Penh Cambodia Lady Eagles Group (PPPCLEG) headed by Ms. Adel Leilanie Legarta in the turnover of the newly constructed playground of the Zannier Holy Baby Foundation in Kandal province on Sunday, 6 August 2023. The PPPCEC and the PPPCLEG spearheaded the construction of the much needed playground for the Kandal orphanage.
In her remarks, Ambassador Aquino expressed her appreciation to the Filipino Community in Cambodia, particularly the PPPCEC and the PPPCLEG, in their constant and inspiring work in socio-civic engagement in the host country. Ms. Ratha Maria, the Assistant Director of the Zannier Holy Baby Foundation, likewise expressed her thanks to the Eagles Club and to Filipinos in Cambodia for their unwavering support and care for the children in the orphanage.
Before the ceremony, the Ambassador also joined the PPPCEC and PPPCLEG in a feeding program for the children. Filipino food such as chicken arrozcaldo and fried tofu, as well as snacks and drinks were served to the delight of the children.
The Foundation runs orphanages for abandoned and orphaned children in Cambodia, including the one in Kandal province. The Eagles Club regularly engages in community outreach activities all over the country. END
