PHNOM PENH, 25 August 2022 - The 4th Batch of the free Basic Khmer Language Class organized by the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia was successfully concluded, with forty (40) students out of an average of fifty (50) plus participants having completed the course. An online graduation was held on 25 August 2022. The online class was held every Monday and Wednesday evening which started on 16 May and ended on 15 June 2022.
The 20-hour language training program was funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs. It was organized by the Philippine Embassy to help newly arrived OFWs in Cambodia learn basic Khmer expressions and adapt to their new environment. Participants were taught useful phrases including introducing oneself, ordering food, counting, asking for and telling directions, and shopping, among others.
The classes, which were conducted by Khmer language teacher for foreigners and author of the book “Cambodian Vocabulary for Foreigners” Mr. Hok Dara, also covered and discussed Cambodian culture and traditions. END.
