FIESTA FILIPINAS SEASON 2 – WAGAYWAY FESTIVAL DIORAMA DIY ART ACTIVITY IN PHOTOS
The Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh invited ten (10) Filipino children who were born/raised in Cambodia to participate in the virtual Fiesta Filipinas Season 2 episode entitled “Wagayway Festival” held on 25 June 2022.
The Wagayway Festival commemorates the patriotic and historical events that transpired in Imus, Cavite leading to the first unfurling (wagayway) of the Philippine Flag and the subsequent declaration of Independence and establishment of the First Philippine Republic in 1898. The Province of Cavite, known as the “Land of the Brave” commemorates the Battle of Alapan on 24 May 1898 which victory led to the first unfurling of the Philippine Flag in the town of Imus on 28 May 1898.
The Fiesta Filipinas Season 2 episode featured a virtual tour of the province of Cavite and its celebration of the Wagayway Festival every May 24th to 28th. The kiddie bisitas were given the Fiesta Filipinas Wagayway Festival kit which included art materials, food treats, refrigerator magnets and room spray scents.
Our heartfelt thanks to the parents who allowed their children to participate in the virtual festival and who voluntarily shared the photos of the kiddie bisitas creating dioramas of the Imus City plaza using the art materials in the Wagayway Festival Kit.
Kiddie bisitas Enrique Martin Borja and Harold Vince Pererras also actively interacted in the chat box and were in awe of the festival’s lively and engaging program. END
