Funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs – Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (DFA-OUMWA), the 20-hour course is intended to equip  Filipinos in Cambodia with basic knowledge of Khmer expressions and greetings that will aid them in adjusting to the new environment, including their workplace.

In her welcome remarks, Vice Consul Frances Cleofas encouraged participants to participate and complete all sessions as learning the language will be a great advantage in connecting and engaging  with Cambodians as well as give them a better understanding and  appreciation of the rich culture of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The first batches of basic and intermediate Khmer courses were conducted in 2019 by the Embassy with 147 Filipinos in Cambodia having successfully completed the courses.

The course is conducted by Mr. Hok Dara, a Khmer language teacher for foreigners and author of the book “Cambodian Vocabulary for Foreigners.” Offered to Filipinos residing and working in Cambodia.  END
