PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN CAMBODIA RECORDS HIGH TURNOUT OF VOTERS FOR THE 2022 PHILIPPINE NATIONAL ELECTIONS

10 May 2022, Phnom Penh – A record-breaking 1,949 Filipinos cast their votes in Cambodia during the month-long overseas voting, which started on 10 April 2022 and ended on 9 May 2022. This represents 65.03% of the total 2,997 registered Filipino voters in Cambodia.

Field voting missions were held in Sihanoukville on 23-24 April 2022 and Siem Reap on 30 April – 1 May 2022 to encourage more voters to exercise their right to vote. Overseas voting for Filipinos in Cambodia started on April 10, 8:00 AM local time, and ended on May 9, 6:00 PM local time, coinciding with the end of the elections in the Philippines at 7:00 PM. Counting of votes started after the close of polls in the presence of accredited poll watchers, and Filipino voters also observed the process.

The four (4) Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEIs) precincts completed counting at 2:00 PM on 10 May 2022 and the Special Board of Canvasses (SBOC) finished the canvassing of votes at 5:30 PM on the same day in the presence of accredited poll watchers.

Copies of the Certificate of Canvass and Election Returns of each SBEI are posted at the Embassy, and are available for the public to view until 12 May 2022, 6:00 PM. END
