Special Repatriation Flight Brings Home 67 Distressed 

Overseas Filipinos in Cambodia

1 September 2021, Phnom Penh – The Department of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Philippine Embassies in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos organized a repatriation flight this morning via Myanmar National Airlines flight number UB 9905.   There were 67 distressed Filipinos in Cambodia joined the flight, including two (2) minors, twelve (12) senior citizens, and one pregnant woman, who were affected by the pandemic and lost their jobs or were stranded in Cambodia.

The repatriation program was also made possible through the support and cooperation of the General Department of Immigration of the Kingdom of Cambodia headed by Director General Kirth Chantharith. 

The Filipino repatriates expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Philippine government and the Embassy for organizing the flight, providing welfare assistance, and helping them return home to be with their families and loved ones.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia has facilitated the repatriation of 1,037 distressed overseas Filipinos in Cambodia. END
