Simbang gabi at koro filipino

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Phnom Penh organized the celebration of the traditional Night Mass or Simbang Gabi  on 16 December 2014, at the Embassy grounds.  The mass was officiated by Fr. Leonard Ochoa of Don Bosco Catholic Church.   Customarily, Simbang Gabi  is a novena of pre-dawn Masses from 16 December to Christmas Eve.

After the mass, the crowd of over 100 Pinoys and their friends helped themselves to Filipino dishes and delicacies such as bibingka,  kuchinta, kalamay, pansit, and dinuguan at puto.  To complete the atmosphere of a traditional Filipino Christmas, Koro Filipino treated the crowd with some Christmas favorites such “Oh Holy Night” and “Christmas in Our Hearts.”   Those who attended thanked the Embassy for organizing the event as it brought the spirit of Christmas to this predominantly Buddhist country.
