As part of the celebration of the 119th anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Sentro Rizal of Phnom Penh cordially invites members of the Filipino community in Cambodia (and their Cambodian/international friends) to a voice workshop to be conducted by Professor Ramon ’’Montet’’ Acoymo on 11 June 2017, from 1:00-4:00 pm, at the Philippine Embassy Multi-Purpose Hall.
The workshop aims to give a basic knowledge and applications of classical singing, as well as primary dimensions of singing techniques (posture, phonation, registration resonation, diction, interpretation and expressivity). Participants who wish to be coached may volunteer to do so. Any repertoire will be tackled at the participants’ requests.
Prof. Acoymo has served as member and Chair of the Technical Panel for Music for the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) which crafted guideline-standards for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Music and Music Education for the country; Secretary-General and Program Director for the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA), a resident company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines; Dean of the College of Music of the University of the Philippines, and Chair of its Department of Voice, Music Theater and Dance.
Prof. Acoymo was a first-prize winner at the U.S. National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, his recital debut with collaborating artist Dr. Raul Sunico at the Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York was hailed a triumph by Headline Philippines. As Music Director/Conductor, he has helmed the Ateneo College Glee Club, Coro San Benildo of CSB-De La Salle and the Kundirana of La Salle Greenhills.
