In line with the announcement of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during his State Visit to Cambodia in December last year, the Philippine Embassy is pleased to inform that the Government of the Philippines is offering 10 scholarships and 50 training opportunities on science and engineering available to Cambodian students and researchers this year.
This human resource capacity building program is being implemented through the Department of Science and Technology of the Philippines (DOST), in partnership with the Philippine Embassy, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Philippines-Cambodia diplomatic relations this year.
Ten (10) full scholarships are available for potential candidates to pursue graduate studies in science and engineering (five [5] Masters Degree and five [5] Doctoral Degrees) in the Philippines. The scholarship award covers tuition fees, monthly stipend, book allowance, transportation and group insurance, health insurance, thesis and dissertation grants, and a round trip air fare, in accordance with the Philippine government regulations.

DOST has allocated fifty (50) slots for Cambodians in several training courses it is organizing this year, namely: Training on Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) for Disaster Risk and Natural Resource Management for the ASEAN Region (15 slots for Cambodians); Training on Digital Integrated Circuit Design (17 slots reserved for Cambodians); and Training on Genomics and Bioinformatics (15 slots for Cambodians). Registration for these fifty (50) training opportunities will be made through the relevant sub-committees of the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology.
This initiative is supported through the Philippines’ commitment to the ASEAN Science-Technology-Innovation (STI) Partnership Contributions pledged at the 9th Informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology (IAMMST-9) held in October 2016 in Cambodia to further enhance STI collaboration and capacity in ASEAN, particularly through the ASEAN-help-ASEAN scheme for Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar.
