ADVISORY ON ONLINE GAMING / GAMBLING

In light of reports of OFWs in Cambodia being enticed to join online games with the promise of high returns, the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh advises members of the Filipino community in Cambodia to exercise prudence and extra caution when accepting invitations to participate in such games, especially those that may be considered as online gambling.

            It may be noted that the Royal Government of Cambodia has issued Circular No. 07 on Strengthening Control on All Types of Online Gambling Businesses Operating Inside and Outside the Kingdom of Cambodia" on 18 August 2019. The Circular instructed judicial police at all levels to crack down on all types of online gambling business operations that do not have permits issued by competent authorities.

            The Philippine Embassy strongly encourages all our kababayans to abide by the laws and regulations of Cambodia at all times and refrain from participating in all types of online games that do not have permits issued by competent ministries or authorities.
