ILLEGAL SOLICITATION OF DONATIONS FOR CHARITY
The Philippine Embassy strongly advises all Filipinos in Cambodia to refrain from participating or engaging in solicitation activities for charity without the necessary permit or approval of concerned authorities of the Royal Government of Cambodia. In particular, solicitation done randomly in public places and/or door-to-door solicitation at the offices of government or private entities, may give rise to serious legal consequences.
This Advisory is being issued in light of the online circulation of a video where a Filipino was confronted by a high-ranking Cambodian government official for illegally soliciting donations for charity. The Filipino in the video admitted that his NGO has yet to be registered with the Ministry of Interior, as required by Cambodian law.
The Philippine Embassy strongly encourages all our kababayans to abide by the laws and regulations of Cambodia at all times, in order not to tarnish the good reputation Filipinos have built up in this country for many years.
