The Philippine Embassy wishes to inform the Filipino Community in Cambodia that the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Thailand made changes to the 30 day visa waiver regulations of Thailand.

Nationals from countries that are currently under the 30 day visa waiver scheme, such as Filipinos, are eligible to enter Thailand without a visa through land border checkpoints only twice a calendar year.  Thereafter, they will have to apply for visas.

Entry through international airports will not be affected.  (i.e., there is no limit to the number of visa-free entries.)

A Tourist Single Entry Visa is free of charge until 28 February 2017.  This type of visa can only be applied for at the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, and is not available at the land border checkpoints.

Permanent residents in Cambodia (for this purpose, those who have stayed in Cambodia for at least six months prior to application) are eligible to apply for Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) at the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh. This type of visa is valid for entering Thailand within 6 months from the date of application. The maximum period of stay for each visit is 60 days. Filipinos who travel to Thailand by land for medical check-ups are advised to apply for an METV.

The METV holder may enter Thailand as long as the visa is still valid. The requirements for a multiple entry tourist visa:

- Completed and signed Visa Application form

- Recent photograph(s) (size 3.5x4.5 cm).

- Passport (valid for no less than 6 months)

- Travel tickets in and out of Thailand

-  Proof of financial capacity: $8,000 per person (as shown with 6 months of financial statements)

- Letter of Employment

- Evidence of accommodation booking

- Non-refundable application fee of $200

Alternatively, people who cannot apply for Multiple Entry Tourist Visa can choose to apply for a single entry tourist visa ( valid for 60 days) and then, once in Thailand, apply for visa extension (extendable for another 30 days) and for a re-entry permit that will allow them to go back to Thailand. Departing Thailand without a Re-Entry Permit will invalidate the visa. The expiration date will be according to the period of stay indicated at the time of application for the re-entry permit. During its validity period, the traveller may leave and return as many times as they wish.

The current fees for re-entry permits are as follows:

•           THB 1,000  for single entry

•           THB 3,800  for multiple entries

The Philippine Embassy in Cambodia will continue to coordinate with the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh regarding its implementation of the new visa regulations of Thailand. If there are concerns/questions, Filipinos in Cambodia may leave their comments or private messages on the Philippine Embassy's Facebook page.
