The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines informs the Filipino community that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued the latest guidelines in the application of NBI Clearance for Filipinos living and working abroad, as follows:

√ FOR NEW APPLICANTS:

  • Secure and fill out the NBI Clearance application form from the Philippine Embassy where the applicant works / resides;
  • Proceed to the Embassy or nearest police station for fingerprinting;
  • Provide a 2x2 photo with white background, photocopy of passport and other valid identification card/s;
  • Register online at www.nbi-clearance.com to apply for clearance and to obtain a reference number for retrieval of applicant’s data and status of application;
  • Enclose money order or bank draft in the amount of Php200.00 payable to the NBI Director.  The completed application form can be sent to

  • Processing time will take 5 days upon receipt of application. If a relative in the Philippines will submit the documents, a letter of authorization is required.

√ FOR APPLICANTS FOR RENEWAL OF NBI CLEARANCE:

  • For applicants who were previously issued an NBI clearance from 2011 onwards, certificates should be authenticated first by the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) of the NBI. A photocopy of the certificate is acceptable for authentication if the original is no longer available;
  • Together with the authenticated certificate, provide a 2x2 photo with white background, duly filled out application form, and photocopy of passport and other valid identification card for submission;
  • Enclose money order or bank draft in the amount of Php200.00 and send the documents in the above-mentioned address.  An authorization letter is required if a relative in the Philippines will  hand carry the said documents to the NBI;
  • Applicants are also required to register at www.nbi-clearance.com for the provision of the applicant’s reference number.  Note: Renewal issued from 2014 to present, and with no amendment in the name, date or place of birth of applicant, need not register online.
  • Upon receipt of NBI certificate, check for the presence of embossed NBI dry seal.  Affix right thumb mark on the space provide.

ü             √  FOR NOTARIZATION OF NBI CLEARANCE

  • Applicants should have their NBI Certificate authenticated first by the Department of Foreign Affairs prior to notarization by the Philippine Embassy.
